Textile and Embroidery

I explore childhood memory and the female body's vulnerability through embroidery on antique and vintage fabrics and clothing found in antique shops, patched together. Sometimes they have been naturally dyed using, berries, bark, avocado stones and the occasional rusty nail or cup of tea. I am fascinated by the anonymous work of women, finely stitched and exquisite, their maker long gone, once cherished and now to be found in antique shops for very little money.

Reminding us of  the frailty of what remains after our lives are over.
